My father was having trouble getting some information from a government agency.  So he left a message for his MP (it was a federal agency).  The MP found the answer and called back with details. 
[I actually don’t know who the MP is from my dad’s riding and which party he belongs to, but it’s great to hear stories of involved politicians].

I spent many years in the US and have never encountered anyone who dealt with their Congressperson with such ease. Heck I’ve seen Lisa Raitt several times (not personally, just around).  When I lived in Mississauga I crossed paths with the Mayor, MPs and MPPs (and wannabes). I spent 5 years in Seattle and 2 in VA and never … never … saw an elected politician except on TV ads. 

Like I said, I (heart) Canada.  Despite our flaws and weaknesses, we still rock :).
