On Monday night the Council voted (not unanimously, unfortunately) to develop a Traffic Calming Policy. It’s desperately needed and is a huge win for people living near new collector roads.
We also put some money aside to synchronize traffic lights (should have happened when roads were expanded, but better late than never).

Synchronizing lights? About time.
Whoever thought set the rush-hour timing of the lights on Thompson should be shot.
Zeeshan,
In your post on Calming Devices linked above, the last option is “do not create long parallel neighbourhood roads”, and yet in another post “cul-de-suck” you talk about the advantages of the grid road system.
I personally am a strong proponent of the grid road layout provided blocks are laid out at a “human scale”, but I’m a little confused where you stand?
@Jesse,
Sorry about the confusion. Grid based system is the way to go. I was talking designing collector roads so they do not become a shortcut for people going from one arterial road to another.
