China is unveiling the world’s first 300 passenger bus :

Many cities in China already significantly restrict car ownership. New bus will have a dedicated lane in local highways, and has five doors for easy entrance and exit.
China also just unveiled a 500 km / hr train :-

That’s not it, China is also committed to adding 16,000 kms of new high speed rail by 2020 (are you listening metrolinx and Via Rail?)
The problem with North America is that people are expected to make sacrifices for public transit. Make public transit a better alternative to drive and watch people leave their cars behind. I would love to catch a train to Ottawa or Montreal rather than flying or driving.
(I am taking Shinkansen [aka Bullet Train] in Japan in May. 300km / hr is a bit slower than China’s 500 km / hr, but still significantly faster than anything I have experienced on ground before).

Going back to China in April, I will try it for you!! LOL
Isn’t that the one that derailed last year?
(I mean a similar one)
Jennifer Holding Smith – Ya they’ve had some safety issues :). I am hoping they’ll work it all out by 2015 :)
I will be trying them when I go back home in April! I will be happy with 300km/h. You should try Shanghai’s 700/h magnetic train from Pudong intl airport to the subway station next time, it’s like riding airplane
Bruce and I took the TGV from Paris to Avignon last year. I think it goes over 300 km/h. We got there so fast that it took us a minute to realize that we were already at our destination. We had to hustle to grab our bags and get off before it left the station. It was a great experience, not cheap, but definitely better than driving.
Roy Chen Shanghai is in my todo list. 2015! :)
@Wendy,
Paint me jealous :)
