I’ll leave technical details out, but the Province requires municipalities to fund certain hospital expansion expenses that add up to around 30% of the project cost.  The Province, in its infinite wisdom, also prevents municipalities from charging developers for this money. Thus the money has to come from property taxpayers.  One day in the not-too-distant-future our Milton Hospital will be expanded. This is a follow up to my loss leader post.  You should read it before voting.  A very quick summary is this :-New growth costs money.  New growth should pay for itself. However, all new growth is not same 1 million sq ft office complex employs 25 times as many people as an industrial compound of same size.   However, they both pay same development charge (should they?) Should milton facilitate residents and/or businesses to sponsor trees?

DiscussionsView ResultsHere is the scenario: some of our roads are wide (some have 4-6 lanes … like Steeles, Derry, Thompson etc) while others are just wide (like Scott Blvd, even though South of Derry it is not a through street and ends pretty soon). I personally would like to see a median down the middle with trees. I worked in Washington, DC for two years and they (and MD touching it) does that where almost every road has a median with multiple rows of trees (in Gaithersburg, MD near my friend’s house they have three rows of trees in the middle median!)
