Council’s Administration & Planning Committee last night asked staff to receive proposals from vendors for Internet and optical scan voting for the 2014 municipal election. There has been some great discussions on online voting lately. The Administration & Planning Committee, that I am a member of, will consider and debate whether to allow online voting for the 2014 municipal election. Town of Markham was the first municipality to allow online voting in 2003. In 2006 18 additional municipalities joined them in online voting. In 2010’s election a total of 44 municipalities allowed online voting. Many more are considering it for 2014, so Milton is not really a pioneer. Through negotiations, the developer has changed the proposal to one building (from two) with 148 units, down 78 from the original proposal.
